I had made many plans for the weekend. Most of them were accomplished, but not all of them quite like I had imagined. Friday E had a couple of friends over to play. K-man also had a couple of friends. When I went to pick-up the kids at school I ended up with one more friend for the older girls. Luckily I hadn't started dinner, because 5 extras tends to make things pretty lean. I whipped up a healthy sized chicken pot-pie and applesauce, and we finally decided on a movie they could all live with. Here is a picture of the bunch of movie watchers. On the way home one of the little girls said, "Before I was born I lived in Colorado". We had quite a debate on the truth of that statement.
We did make it to the Jolly, however, I should have gotten up earlier. By the time I got there the good stuff was gone. I saw many beautiful treasures being toted around by smiling ladies. They beat me to it fair and square. It was a lovely event with lots of great handmade and fixed up stuff. Next year I'm going to be waiting at the doors bright and early.
I actually did get up early. I have been trying to figure out how best to fit 10 people into a house designed for 5, maybe 6. I had been thinking I needed to move the bedrooms around a bit, but couldn't motivate myself to do it. Friday my friend Pat called to tell me that her son wanted to use the dresser that I have been "storing" for her for the last year. It is a very large dresser, so it was going to take some work to empty out and replace. That was just the push I needed to make the big bedroom shuffle. So the fam dove in and moved clothes, toys, books, beds, etc. That is the real reason I didn't make it to the Jolly quite as soon as I had hoped. The funniest part was that Pat called me around 3 and said they had changed their minds and didn't want the dresser after all. This is why I don't make concrete plans.
We also had to fit a birthday celebration into the midst of this chaos. Bk made Mads a lovely yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Praise the Lord for Betty Crocker! Mads was babysitting for friends that were going to the Coug's homecoming game. After the end of the third quarter when the Cougs were down 50 something to 7, I thought maybe they would leave early. Nope. They stayed to the bitter end, and I mean bitter. Mads got home around 7:30, and we had dinner around 8. It was salmon and shrimp, so no one was complaining. We were too tired to eat cake last night so we had it after church today. The fam is out now, riding bikes to Wal-Mart to exchange a CD Mads got. Her sister had already bought it for her on itunes. We will see what she comes home with. Here are few pictures of the festivities.
