I don't think I've ever posted on politics before. I listen to NPR in the mornings, and my mother works for the legislature in Washington state, so I am aware that politics are happening. I find them interesting in a way. It just seems that the presidential race is sort of out of my league. Here are people that I see and hear everyday, but what do I really know about them? Barak Obama and his incredibly cool wife Michelle are polished, classy, inspiring. Do I think they represent me? Not really. Then there is John McCain. What can I say? He seems to represent everything I think is wrong with politics. They are all just politicians. They say what they think people want to hear, that's their job.
All of the campaigning is very entertaining. The insults slung back and forth. The pot calling the kettle black. It beats reality t.v. But do these people represent me? Does it matter who I vote for? I believe that it does. It probably doesn't matter to those taking polls, or to the Democrats or Republicans. It matters to me, and it matters to God. We have the privilege of voting in this country for whoever we choose. We are free in that sense to choose the person who represents us. So, who will I vote for? I don't know yet. I need to pray, to listen, to question, to think. I will vote (don't worry Dad) but I may just choose someone outside the box. Is it throwing my vote away? I don't think so, the One that I am concerned about pleasing doesn't count votes that way.
