I just found out that one of my daughter's classmates has been diagnosed with leukemia. My oldest daughter had lost a classmate to cancer in second grade. These things come as such a shock when they happen to bubbly children in grade school. Her prognosis is good, but treatment will be long.
I need to remember that good health is a blessing. I should not take it for granted, and I should think about it more than I do. God has been very kind to us. We have not had hospitalizations, broken bones, major illnesses, or even very many cavities. It is easy to assume this as normal and forget that it is a gift. I know that N will bring us many lessons in this area, and I am grateful for that.
I am dreading telling my daughter. I know she will be concerned, especially since this family is now living on the east coast. We will make her a card and pray for her. Illness is a part of life. While it is heavy we know that we can bear all things through Christ.
