we are in the curves. Our court date was not Dec. 30, but Dec. 31. Our case was heard and N's mother did not show up to court. This is the first we have heard about N's family, which is a relief to us. I suspected that he had a living relative of some sort, due to the fact that his name is not a common one. I don't know anything else about her, but, Lord willing, we will get to meet her when we go to pick N up.
I have mixed feelings about taking a little boy away from his home country and away from his mother. I have only heard positive feedback from people whose children had living relatives. It seems to be easier for the children if their parents can meet, and transfer care. We may be able to get pictures of N with his Mom, which will be important to him when he gets older. He will know that his mother does love him, but was too sick to care for him. It breaks my heart to think of her anguish. At least now we can pray for her as well, and be able to let her know that we love her son, and we will not let him forget her.
Our new court date is Feb 5. God indeed moves in mysterious ways.
