I won't be posting much for the next couple of weeks, or if I am things are not going well. Our Embassy appointment is on Feb. 25. This is all part of the ride. You wait for six months, and then boom, you head to Ethiopia in two weeks. Some how we managed to miss our travel packet from AAI. So I have been blissfully procrastinating planning this trip thinking I would have six weeks to work with. Nope.
So today I find that the guest house I have been talking to and have reservations with is not suitable for staying in. Bummer. I also find out interesting things like, pack your own t.p. Very good to know, glad I got that memo. All cash must be crisp clean and not printed in 1996 or 1997, I have never examined $100 bills that closely before. And what do you know it takes a week to get that kind of thing out here in Idaho.
I am not the wait until the last minute type. In fact I am the get it done right away, because something always comes up type. So I am way out of my comfort zone. My husband thinks I am just nuts. He loves the last minute, he thinks we still have tons of time. This is just the beginning of the number of things we do on the opposite scales. Usually it works out nicely, but it can be stressful in the process. I have asked several time if I can just stay home. Packing for a guy to go to Ethiopia is infinitely easier than packing for a woman. Thus the reason I don't really camp if I can avoid it. I did procure the three most important items for the trip, passports excepted, Dove dark chocolates, a memory foam neck pillow, and noise cancelling headphones. If I get nothing else packed, I may still survive, and for all of you that have given me advice I do also have hand sanitizer.

It is exciting planning your trip isnt it? We may meet there in Addis. Our court date in March 5th, I am leaving March 30th either way...if we pass to get the boys and we don't pass I am visiting again. My daughter will be there March 3-23. The visit trips are hard $ wise but worth the investment in our childen. For your trip....f you want advice feel free to email me offline and get my ph number. Your bank can order newer bills, double check them that they are newer, not just new looking. You may decide you can not leave your boy at KM one more day than possible so don't count on staying where ever you want and him staying at KM til you go home. I will be praying for both our court dates!

I remember that overwhelming feeling as well. I thought we were going to have 6 weeks as well. You make our 3 weeks of travel planning seem like ample time. I can't image doing it in two. But I hate travel planning with a passion.
You are doing great and I know it will all come together - you may not sleep much in the next week or so, but you'll get it done. I am so excited for you and can't wait to see that little boy in your arms.
