Over and Back, Again

I've driven across the state of Washington twice this month. I usually don't do that twice in one year. Nes had his first doctor's appointment this week. Things look good so far. He was full of energy after being strapped in the car for six hours. The doctor assured me that the hyperactivity was not abnormal. I had to smile. We had just gotten out of the car, and walked into the hospital, so he had not had time to stretch his legs. My youngest daughter was also with us, and she was jumping off of the bench with just as much enthusiasm as Nes. No one addressed her hyperactivity.

Children's was very friendly. I don't think Nes was prepared for such a pain free visit. It caught him a little off guard. I'm very glad, it should make the next visit less stressful. I didn't get to meet two of the ladies I was hoping to run into. I forgot to write down their numbers, and I was too distracted chasing the little ones to remember to have them looked up.

I did get to meet my friend Andrea. She and her family were delightful. They treated us to an excellent dinner, and a lot of entertainment. Nes was a little shy at first which shocked me. He has been singing about Biruk since I picked him up. They quickly got into their groove and were racing around the house with fire trucks. Andrea and I had a great chat about the kids, and their moms. It was really nice to meet the real people that have meant so much to me. She even said that I look younger in real life than I do on my blog. I just thought I should mention that, in case you were wondering.

We will head back west in a couple of months. It is nice to see the big city, but I sure do love our little town. I had burned a couple of driving music CDs, which was good. My DVD player didn't have the power cord, so we had to go audio. The kids liked my music, and managed to get a few naps in as well. I think Nes is wondering why Americans spend so much time strapped into their machinas. It is a good question, hopefully that will be it for a while.

Glad the first visit was painless. And I agree that you look much younger in person. :)

By the way, I'm totally jealous.

Signe, it was so really good to finally have met you. I enjoyed your little Helen too; you know I have a weakness for little girls. What a polite young lady.

Oh and you forgot to mention that not only do you look so much younger and beautiful but you have a killer body for birthing 7 children. I know this is a public blog but the truth be the truth! You know that is a reflection upon you how you take care of yourself and your family.

In both Russia and Romania a car is a machina (and also in Ethiopia!?!).

Why on earth do you have to drive to the west coast when we have two large hospitals here in Spokane?

You DO look fabulous Signe. Some women get to have it all!

We have to drive to Seattle because that is the closest Pediatric HIV Dr. They do have HIV Dr.s in Spokane, but they don't specialize in pediatrics. There are very few children living with HIV in the US, so pediatric Dr.s are not as common. We only have to go over once every three months, the rest of his medical care is taken care of locally.
