Conclusion of 28

"The funding gap continues to plague efforts to respond to the African pandemic. The United Nations says that while $22 billion will be needed to fight AIDS in 2008, less than half of that will be available.

Each day in Africa, six thousand people die of HIV/AIDS-a treatable, preventable illness. We have twenty-eight million reasons to act." Stephanie Nolan, 28 Stories of AIDS in Africa, p.354

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about HIV/AIDS. It is very readable and engaging. The stories add the human element to the tragedy of the pandemic. It includes a lot of insight into African culture, and history. It is also a great way to learn more about HIV, how it is and is not transmitted, and how it affects the people living with it.
