We have been heavy into summer fun. The weather warmed back up today, so we got to go the pool, and it was fun. Nes calls it flying in the water. He loves to just float fully submersed, or jump from the side. You would think he had lived his entire life swimming in the pool.
We have had several people comment on how comfortable Nes seems to be with our family. It is astounding, even to us. It is like he has always been here. He loves to have me hold him, and is a great snuggler. I had read that I should not expect him to be affectionate, and warm, but that it would come with time. He has been a snuggler from the beginning. He loves to point out all of the ways that we are the same. He will point out our clothing if it is the same color as his, and say "same." He also likes to say family. He will point out who is in his family, and that he is in this family. He is an amazing boy, and we are very grateful for him.
K-man's baseball games continue to provide loads of entertainment. I considered writing up the play by play, but thought other team moms might not appreciate it. I don't think they appreciate the amount of time I spend laughing during the games either. Watching those little guys get so excited that they caught the ball, and then hold it up for mom to see, completely forgetting that there is a play to be made. The coach is yelling "throw the ball." Mom is waving towards second base. Finally it dawns on Jr. that something else needs to happen so he starts running for second with the ball. Usually it ends in the base runner being tackled by the fielder, accompanied by lots of advice from the bleachers, and me off to the side laughing hysterically. I would take a junior league over the majors any day, there is way more action.
The rest of us have been reading, cleaning, sleeping, cooking, the usual stuff. My friend Phil mentioned that he bought a Bobcat. Oh, the things I could do with that. I am pretty sure he is regretting that I know that, I think he would like to use it this summer too. Maybe the landscaping will get done in my lifetime.
Nes with his rolly polly family.
