First Day of School

We made it through another summer. The pool is closed, the plaids are out, and the mornings are cool. I think they had most of what they needed when they got there, I'm sure they will have notes for me after school to remind me what I missed. Nes is sporting his jammies because he has not rolled into the new schedule yet. He is NOT a morning person and it is going to take him a bit to get used to it. Fortunately he only has school on Tues and Thurs. We will get his official first day of school picture later this week.

We had a little last minute pencil sharpening going on this morning. I know that I told them they needed to be sharpened three weeks ago when I bought them, but somehow that escaped all of our attention until this morning. We got them finished, and now life is back to its orderly pace. We have a purpose each day, and a schedule to count on.

To add to the excitement it is also BK's thirteenth birthday. She frequently gets to to celebrate by getting up early, putting on her uniform and packing pencils to school to see her friends. She is a good sport and I will get her cake done while I only have two helpers at home. I have to say that I LOVE my teenagers. I heard for years "just wait until they are teenagers." And I have, and I think they are the icing on the cake. They have been my very best friends and I love to walk with them, watch movies with them, talk about books, travel, cook, it is all so delightful. I told BK this morning what a great stage in life she is entering, and I think she is excited about it too. Happy Birthday BK!
