Counting the Cost

This Saturday our family got a crash course in restaurant 101. We did an Applebees Flapjack Fundraiser. Several wonderful, above and beyond the call of duty, friends, my daughter's classmates and our family dished out 190 plates of pancakes. We got 10 minutes of instruction and then, off to the races. We had a great time, K-man got offered a job as a dishwasher, and we raised over $2500. It was a great way to spend a morning, having breakfast with a restaurant full of friends joining to support us in bringing Jubilee home.

Earlier in the week another adoptive Mom did a jewelry show at my home, and then donated part of the proceeds to help with Jubilee's travel expenses. It was a very fun, and educational evening. I had no idea that large hoop earrings could make you look younger, and that necklaces can be slimming. Forget the diet, buy jewelry! We had a fun time playing in the jewelry and talking about Ethiopia.

There are so many ways to help defray some of the adoption costs, and so many of the things we have done have been other people offering to help. It has made me a believer in the idea that costs should not be a reason not to adopt. I didn't believe it before we started this adventure, but I believe it now. Having these children in your home is priceless.

It makes me so happy to know she will be HOME with you all soon!!
