Home

Here we are, at the end of one road, and the beginning of another. Jubilee is home, has slept in her very own bed, and is getting familiar with her new surroundings. She ventured outside, which is quite chilly today, and tried out the swings. She is quiet, but smiling.

Last night we got home around 9:00 p.m. She had been sleeping in two hour chunks between flights. She got very sick on the end of the flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco. We were in the back of the plane and the motion finally overwhelmed her. HoneyBee traveled like a champ, sitting next to Jubilee scarfing down ravioli, completely unfazed by her friend's plight. We had a two hour delay in San Francisco due to the fog, so the girls pulled up a bench, their pillows and blankets and crashed. We got them on the last plane, and Jubilee slept on my lap the entire flight. Rick picked us up in the big van so everyone had a seat to sleep in. We finally arrived in our garage, to my three oldest girls and Soso. Jubilee was tired, a bit confused, but still had a smile. We got her into her new jammies that Grandma had made for her and let her get into her bed. I can't even imagine what was going on in her head. I was overwhelmed and everything was familiar and happy for me.

We are off on the new journey. The journey of becoming a family. Jubilee doesn't talk much, but she smiles a lot. She even ate some breakfast this morning which was a pleasant surprise. She has had injera three meals a day for most of her life, and I have no idea where to buy tef. She did not like airplane food, even on Lufthansa, who can blame her? I have a feeling food is going to be a tough transition.

I woke up this morning to Nes hugging me, telling me he missed me. What a great way to start my first day home. I know that becoming a family can be tough, but the reward is so worth it. I think Jubilee is doing great so far. It is so good to be home, although I will be missing Ethiopian Machiattos. I will post about the trip this weekend, Lord willing. It was an amazing trip. Tonight we are all getting together at Lisa's to go through pictures and tell stories. I am sure that will getting me going on writing down all that we did. I am so thankful for the trip, my daughter, my family, especially my Dad, and to be home again.

They sell Teff at the Ethiopan market by my house.. I have never made injera but have made other food(you can also buy injera already made there by neighborhood ladies)-- so if you want me to pick up teff and send it to you I can.

So fun to read the update! You can buy teff at azurestandard.com - you have to create an account to see the prices and order. I'm sure there are other places to order, too, but this is nice cause you can get LOTS for CHEAP. :) We get all our dried goods here...

I shed tears reading that you are home with your daughter. I rejoice with all of you that a child is HOME, especially in the wake of what is going on with children in Haiti. Oh that all children are received HOME. My hope rests in the fact that they are not hidden from our Heavenly Father who wants to make His home in their hearts. Blessings to your family.

An Admirer,
Virginia
