BFF

I stumbled across this picture today. It is one of my favorites. My big girls have always been best friends. They are an unlikely pair. Mads is very encouraging, upbeat, clean, ditsy, and very coordinated. BK is more subdued, keeps her emotions to herself, funny in a biting kind of way, artsy, slovenly, smart, and has no rhythm. They have shared a room from the get go, which at times has been tense. Mads makes her bed as soon as she gets out of it. BK makes it once a year whether it needs it or not. They spend a lot of time together and they like it that way.

BK was at a friend's house last week when Mads had her mango attack. BK called me while I was on the phone with 911, my conversation with her was short a bit frantic. She showed up at the house within 10 minutes, tears in her eyes, and clearly concerned. She wanted to know if Mads was okay. As soon as she was sure all was well, she was off to the movie. When I told Mads the story, she said "BK had tears in her eyes, for me?" BK doesn't tell you she loves you, but sometimes she slips and it shows. I am so grateful for the love these girls have for each other. I am sure it will last a lifetime.

Ahh, this little story put tears in my eyes! This picture is just as I remember them, the last time I saw them. What beautiful little girls they were, and how beautiful and grown up they have become!
