One Year of Nes

In the hussle and bussle of life I nearly missed this important day. One year ago today I picked up my son for the first time. He wasn't at all sure about me, since he was convinced that Courtney was his mom. The nannies convinced him that I was his mom, and he has been convinced ever since.

He has been such a joy that we felt comfortable adding Jubilee. The two of them have made our lives much more than they were before. Nes is easy going. He has always been affectionate to us. He loves his brothers, and is even making peace with Omega. He is cheerful and obedient. He and K-man are two peas in a pod. They like rules, order, pleasing others, and keeping everyone on the straight and narrow.

When I visited his mother in January she wanted to know if he still had a bad temper. I thought about it, because I don't consider him to have a bad temper. He does get competitive with Omega and gets mad when he is losing, but what could he have been fighting with anyone about? Then I remembered that his friend Biruk was there. I could see them having a competitive streak. I assured her that he can get mad, but that he is generally quick to calm down. It actually takes him quite a bit to get mad, and he tends to sit and regulate himself pretty well. He will let me sit with him, but he wants to pull himself together. His mom seemed to be like this as well, so I think it is pretty normal.

My dad told me at one point that he wasn't sure how he would feel about an adopted grandchild. He has quite a few grandkids, so it isn't like he has a shortage to love on. After spending quite a bit of time with Nes, he said he would take him over some of the others. I had to smile, he is just really easy to be around. He truly cares about other people. He knows when he has hurt someones feelings, and it makes him feel terrible. He is quick to forgive and ask forgiveness. He is really quite a remarkable person. I am so thankful that God brought him into our home.

Happy one year anniversary! I love the first part about Courtney being his mommy. How cute. I am so glad you little man is such a bundle of joy and I am glad to consider that precious guy family. He is truly one of a kind.. Biruk always teases me saying "mommy you are funny with Nesradine, you always have to hug and kiss on him"..
