Low Protocol

Last night was the 9th and 10th grade low protocol dinner.  The kids are given training on how to eat with good manners, how to be a good guest, and how to have a conversation.  They go out to a very nice restaurant, and then have entertainment afterwards.  They are assinged escorts, and required to dress up.

Mads was seated with Kane for dinner, and then Jackson for dessert.  She said they were both good conversationalists.  She was also given a dinner that accommodated her diet, which was a blessing.  She said that the salmon was amazing, and she enjoyed the extra asparagus, since none of the guys would eat theirs.  She did say there was a lot of kicking going on under the tables.  I found that very funny, I mean really, do they have to train them in not kicking the person across from you?  Do you think the queen of England is getting kicked by the person seated across from her at dinner?  I don't think so.  I guess it just means that you have to state the obvious even to your semi-adult children.

I think she enjoyed being a grown up for the evening, even if she did miss Soso's cake and ice cream, which she can't eat any way.  She looked beautiful, and it was a good opportunity to learn how to eat and speak well.  Tonight she will be running at her first home track meet, which is really more of her element.  So much for big kids being easier than little kids, but they are a lot of fun.

I get the idea behind this class/evening, but why is it called low protocol?

Your daughter's dress and sweater are becoming, she looks like a lovely young lady. Of which, I have NO CLUE since I am a mom to 5 boys.
