Weekend in the Ville

We decided to take a vacation to Grandpa's house this weekend.  It was very good, but has given me a bad case of the sure is a bummer to be home syndrome.  We got to pick lots of fresh vegetables,  and play in the green grass.  We treated the kids to all the things Rick and I grew up doing.  We played baseball in Grandpa T's pasture.  We pitched tents on their lawns and slept under the stars.  We went to the auto vu to see a couple of flicks.  We floated the river.  We spent an afternoon swimming at Bradbury beach.  We  probably aged all of our skin ten years.  We were dirty, sweaty, and happy.

Mads stuck to her training schedule and put in three good runs.  She ran 8 miles Saturday, after we kept her up until 1 am watching movies at the drive in.  It doesn't get dark until 9, so they finish really late.  I fact that I took advantage of many a weekend when I was teen.  Praise God my kids are so much better than I was.  The Dads took the bigs and the floaties to the river.  They said they saw all kinds of wild life, and not just the kind you hunt in the fall.  Small towns never lack for interesting characters.  Jubilee wanted to stay, which is wonderful.  She was not too sure about this whole adventure after the first day.  We had a bumpy beginning, but we worked through it, and she was ready to move in with my dad.

It is good to be "home" if even for a short time now and then.  I love this small town, it feels very comfortable to me.  Sometimes it is tempting to want to move back here.  My dad's home is a very pleasant place to be.  I just need to enjoy the time I do get to be there, and be thankful for such wonderful memories.

The same feelings that went through my heart when we were visiting "the Ville". Some very precious memories in that place. I hope the kids got to the candy store too, and "gravity" hill :)
YEAH for a WONDERFUL time by all!

We hope to go there some day. Kevin does nothing but rave about it. Wished it wouldn't be such a long drive for us:(

Sounds like a LOT of fun. Your family is BLESSED to have grandparents involved in your children's lives. Neither my husband nor I have a "home" to go to ... no grandparents houses to visit (except for 91 y.o. grandpa who we visit for an hour or two, a couple of times per year) ... no childhood memories to re-live with our kids ...

Glad you had a good week, and that Jubilee enjoyed it.

:) :) :)
