Lentil Festival
This weekend was the annual Lentil Festival. Our track club was helping them out with their 5K fun run, so we had to pass out numbers on Friday night, and work the finish line this morning. We got the early shift for passing out numbers so we were able to beat the crowd to the line for free lentil chili. They made 350 gallons of lentil chili, and had it distributed in 2 hours. It is a rather amazing sight.
Jubilee wandered around marveling at all of the silly booths. She got a little frustrated when we sent she and K-man to find pizza and they couldn't find it. K-man finally chased down the ladies with the boxes and they gave him directions. I eventually had to walk them over, and attitudes perked up considerably when the mission was accomplished. We got posters of the WSU swim team, and the volleyball team.
This morning we had cross country practice which was wrapped up with chocolate chip pancakes and whipped cream. They have an awesome coach. I had to drive out and get Mads so that we wouldn't be late for the race. We got there just in time and got to organize tags by placement in their age categories. It is the kind of run I would like my kids to be able to do when they are adults. You could tell the people who just keep in good shape as a matter of lifestyle. I hope to be like that someday.
We waited around to see Bronster's gymnastics team in the parade. Parades aren't really the highlight of my life, but the kids LOVED it. They got loaded down with candy and coupons, and got to shake hands with the WSU athletes. It was reasonably long, but not tedious. Jubilee wasn't sure about it at all at first, but she liked seeing the football players. It was a good way to spend the morning.
