We had a little gathering this weekend to celebrate bringing N home. We had some very diehard friends that gathered in the rain to walk four miles for N. It wasn't exactly what I had envisioned. It has been in the 80's for the past 10 days. When they said 30% chance of showers on Saturday, I had no fear. But it did rain. It wasn't the wettest part of the day however, and at some points we actually got warm. We had lots of coffee thanks to Bucers, a few root beer floats, and lots of smiles.
This is the very brave soul who let us know we could turn around and head back. She loved this job so much that she beat me back to the park.
These were the first walkers to return. I saw them at the turnaround point. Now I know that my K-man can easily run two miles with the proper motivation.
I want to thank all of you who participated in our weekend event. You are a great encouragement to us. We were astounded by generosity. What a great community and family that we have to share with our new son. Thank you also to From HIV to Home for all of the work they are doing to help HIV+ children find homes.
