Every morning on the way to school I ask each child to tell me something they are thankful for. This week it has been mostly thankful for my brother and sister-in-law, and their kids, and Thanksgiving celebration. Before I get into packing and last minute cooking I thought I would jot down my own thankful list.
First and foremost I am thankful for Jesus Christ, without whom I would not be able to enjoy the blessings in my life. I am thankful for my pastors and their faithful feeding of their flock, without whom I would still be a babe in Christ. I am thankful for my church community and their love for one another. I am thankful for my extended family, even though they are not here everyday, I know that their support keeps me going. I am thankful for my husband, who is a wonderful picture of the love of Christ to me everyday. I am thankful for my rowdy, loving, maturing, kids that keep me humble in so many ways. I am thankful that God placed us in the United States, and that we are still free to do so many things that would not be possible in many places in the world. I am thankful for all of the comforts that God has graciously provided that I do not deserve. I am thankful for "good days" that are so plentiful that I can't seem to pick the best one. I am thankful for worst days that have taught me what it means to walk by faith and not by sight. I am thankful that God has left us His Word that we may grow in grace and understanding, that we may learn how to truly love our neighbor as ourselves. I am thankful for my bustling household and wonderful community that gives me so many opportunities to practice living out my faith. I am thankful for another day to give thanks to God.
