I have been putting up decorations little by little. Yesterday I found my Swarovski ornaments, and hung them on our dining room light. Today I bought a wreath for the front door. The kids put lights up in their rooms. It has been nice to do a little each day. I might even have it all done by Christmas.
My big accomplishment for the day was getting my Christmas cards done. I had ordered photo cards the end of October. Wal-Mart lost them, so three weeks later I called. They said they had lost them and would refund my money. Great, so much for being ahead of the game. So I ordered prints from snapfish. I also ordered some other gifts. I had all of the gifts by Thanksgiving but not the prints. I was beginning to think God was trying to tell me to give it up, when they arrived in the mail today. They will be hitting mail boxes in the next week. One more thing to check off the to do list.
My girls are making thumbprint cookies tonight. They are cookies with nuts and jam in the thumbprint in the middle. I used to try to make many different types of cookies and have them all for Christmas day. I have since learned that if I make enough to feed the troops while we are cooking and want to have any left for Christmas I would be making cookies around the clock. My current method is to pick our favorite cookies and make them, and eat them as we go through the Advent season. If there are any left on Christmas great, if not, maybe some gracious neighbor will bring us some. One of our family favorites is sugar cookies. I make an afternoon project out of those. We make them all a day ahead, and then spread them all over the table and decorate away. The kids love it. I think we will do that this weekend.
I received my first Christmas card today. It was from our school, but it counts. I love getting Christmas cards. Merry Christmas!
