World Aids Day

Today is World Aids Day. I never imagined that this day would become personal to me, but it has. Our children now know what HIV is and how it is spread. They know that their little brother is a gift to them and not a threat. They know that there are millions of children around the world that have suffered because of this disease. They also know there is hope. The disease is manageable.

What we need to do is educate ourselves, and then educate our neighbors. Erin posted a very intelligent post on how we can fight AIDS. CNN also had a great article on how far we have come in the last 20 years. My sister-in-law also pointed out that Starbucks is donating money this month to fight AIDS. AIDS is a tragic disease, but it is not the hopeless death sentence that it once was. Today, let's make an effort to stop this pandemic from continuing to spread.
