One of my girls had an assignment to make a journal page of advice from her Mom. They are reading Carry on Mr. Bowditch, which is the story of Nathanial Bowditch. If you have never heard of him, you should read the book. I found the list when I was cleaning up the living room so I thought I would post it.
1. Be neat, make your bed, clean your bathroom.
2. If you run out of money stop buying stuff.
3. Widows and orphans are always a good investment.
4. Read your Bible every year (all the way through).
5. Get enough sleep.
6. Clean up after others.
7. Go to church every Sunday.
8. Respect your husband.
9. Learn to sew.
10. Learn to cook.
11. Let love cover it.
12. Don't pamper your kids.
13. Discipline your kids.
14. Get to know your friends.
I would also add, love reading and do it often.
Life in a small town with a large family. Trying to put God on display.

I absolutely love the list. It sounds a lot like "Above Rubies". That's what I am talking about.
