We decided since Nes has been around for four years, and we have missed it, we should give this birthday thing another go. Grandma hadn't met him yet, and she is the birthday gift and cake queen. Mads also had her play this weekend, so it was time for a visit.
Mads has done a stellar performance as Vicki, in Time at the Top. She was asked to sign autographs last night, something new for her. Today she has track practice, dance class, and her last two performances. She will enjoying a well earned sabbath tomorrow.
Nes got the two gifts that he really wanted. We had talked Soso out of his backpack when we went to Ethiopia. When we returned he decided that he still needed it for school. Nes was quite attached to it by then so it was a source of much sneaking around. We also discovered that he is quite a marble shooter. K-man and Soso got marbles for Christmas a couple of years ago, so we have some around the house. I decided he needed some of his own. Grandma and Grandpa had some left, so they added those to the birthday stash. Nes saw the present on the mantle and pointed. I said it was for him. He smiled and said "Me?" I nodded. He was very pleased. Grandma made a lemon cake. By this time he had the candle blowing down. It doesn't take long to figure out birthdays are pretty cool.
