15 years of Mads

My big girl turned 15 yesterday. She had been at her grandparents, but they came home early to spend the day with the family. We keep our birthday celebrations pretty low-key. The children get to choose their dinner and dessert, and we usually have a few gifts. The grandparents are having a tough time with this transition from child to adult. She got a Hannah Montana purse and a pink tinker-bell cake. She took it well, and her younger sisters were happy to help her out, by "borrowing" her purse. It is odd for me to think of her as a little girl. I remember those days, but this Mads is so different, so grown up. I am so glad to have teenage girls. They are a lot of fun to hang out with, even if I can't keep up with them most of the time. We went shopping at Wal-Mart, since it was the only thing open at 8:30 Sunday night, she came home with nothing. That is the kind of girl she is. She knows what she wants and if she doesn't find it she is content to wait until it appears. I love her to pieces and am so glad that God gave her to me. I hope this coming year brings more growth in grace, and blessings for my little girl.
