Beginning On a High Note

I survived the holidays. Actually they were quite wonderful. We got to see all of our extended family for a short visit. It would be nice to see more of them, but since we were a bit housebound it was probably good the way it was. Maybe one of these years we will do the ski vacation again.

The family vacation this year will involve me going to Ethiopia to pick up Jubilee. We actually fly out on Sunday and will be gone almost two weeks. I have two wonderful friends going with me, as well as one of Jubilee's friends. The plans are starting to finalize, now that everyone is back from vacations.

The fabulous news is that the HIV waiver will not be required, so her visa will be issued promptly and we are free to go. We will be needing a transit visa for our layover in Germany, but I had expected that. I think I have all of my paperwork ducks in a row. I have collected phone numbers for people to visit. I am slowly weeding through what I really think I will wear and what I can really leave behind. I'm also trying to decide if I should get extensions, do they do white hair in Ethiopia? I am starting to breathe easier about the whole thing today. Yesterday I was feeling very frantic. An evening of prayer with some very good friends was really just what I needed.

I don't know if I will get to blog while we are away, but I plan to send email to Lisa so that she can post about our adventures. If you are wondering what we are up to you can check in at her blog. We have some adventures planned. We will be traveling to meet family, as well as meeting with old friends who are in Ethiopia. And really just getting to the guesthouse from the airport is quite an adventure. Maybe I will try to video the traffic, it's impressive.

Once we get home it seems like blogging takes a back seat to parenting. Not to mention I may still have Christmas decorations up. I will try to write about our transition, as I am sure I will want to remember how we all did twenty years from now. It is the start of another year, which will be filled with new things. It is beginning with wonderful gifts, new children, new toys, old friends and lots and lots of food.

yeah, you survived the holidays. It is a good feeling though when its all packed up and everything starts fresh. I was in that boat last year. I left on 12/28 and left all the decorations out including the tree.
Glad you are at peace about the trip and had some good prayer warriers praying with you. And I am so excited you are not taking just one but two friends. Awh Signe, you are so loved. Can't wait to hear about your trip on Lisa's blog.
