This is the boy that keeps me humble. He is exuberant, goofy, social, and everybody's friend. He is not afraid to say what's on his mind, and he has no qualms about talking to anyone. Since all of our children are at the same school, he keeps my older girls humble as well. We know that God will use his gifts for good, and we are all surprised by how many people think he is just wonderful.
Today he turns seven. He wanted hamburgers, hotdogs, potato chips, and ice cream cake for dinner. The weather was fabulous for grilling, which was a huge bonus. He woke me up early, and informed me it was his birthday. He then waited expectantly for me to break into song for him. Rick fried up some sausage for his breakfast, we drew the line at dutch babies. Dutch babies for large families on school mornings are just a bad idea. He took brownies to school for his classmates, and got a silver dollar from Mr. Whitling.
He had asked for LAX gear, and gardening stuff for his birthday. His mom asked for jeans. He got all that and more. I think he went to bed satisfied that his birthday was recognized.
