The New Addition

We must love this girl, because we are now the proud owners of a Schnoodle named Kiki.  My dad would classify this dog as a "worm dog".  My standards for dogs, are outside living, larger than a cat, can be left for a week at a time with no maintenance, and does not wake me up at night.  Kiki meets none of those criteria, not even close.  This is one of those occasions where God comes in and asks you to do the very thing you promised yourself you would never do.  So here we are laying our lives down for the child we love.

Jubilee has been making it clear that she would like a dog.  Both Rick and I were agreed that dogs are something you have when you have 5 acres or more.  God brought us each, independently, to the realization that He had other plans for us.  I started pointing out dogs to Jubilee to see what she was interested in.  She wanted small, white, something that would sleep with her, and it would be named Kiki or Patches.  We had a long talk with Fishing Grandpa about dogs, and he recommended Schnoodles.  We did a little research and found a puppy that we were happy with and so was Jubilee.

He is a very sweet little guy.  Our cat is livid, but calming down.  My beautiful house that we have been trashing for three years is getting another hit.  My morning quiet time now includes a trip outside with Kiki, followed by him racing around and attacking my toes, not so quietly.  Jubilee isn't as thrilled as I would have hoped.  I think the joy has been minimized by the number of people that she has to fight off to spend time with him.  Large families are not the most conducive for one on one time in any situation.  She has been good about keeping him tidy, and everyone is loving having him around.  I'm hoping they will grow to be good friends, but we will see.  For now, he is here in all his glory, and I am humble knowing God has stripped away one more piece of vanity.
