Madison has been thinking for some time about what she could do to to give back to Ethiopia. She has been gifted by God with an ability and love of running. For several years we have been reading the Livesay's Haiti blog. This June Paige ran a half marathon to raise money to build houses in Haiti. Paige raised over $40,000, which is truly astounding. It inspired Madison to think about how she could use her gift of running to make a difference for the children in Ethiopia that are living with HIV. She has decided to run a half marathon on Sept. 5. We are asking you, and anyone else that you can share this with, to sponsor Madison in this run. I asked Madison to write about why she wants to run this half marathon for AHOPE and Lola.
"I am running this race because I've wanted to do something to help AHOPE, but I didn't know what I could do. The more pictures I saw of AHOPE and the more time I spent with my brother and sister and friends from Ethiopia, the more I wanted to do something to make a change in their lives. When I saw Paige run a half marathon to raise money for Haiti it inspired me. God gave me a gift, a gift to run, and I want to use the gift that God gave me to help those in need."
A half marathon is 13 miles, so some ideas for sponsoring Madison are:
$1 per mile, please donate $13
$3 per mile, please donate $39
$5 per mile, please donate $65
$10 per mile, please donate $130
If you cannot make a donation, we would still appreciate your prayers, encouraging comments, and letting other's know about Madison's run. Feel free to link this post on your blogs, or Facebook pages. The more people that hear about the run, the greater chance to raise support for the children in Ethiopia.
