Atypical Week

It was sort of a typical week with a twist.  Grandma came to town, and managed to make it for the whole week!  Rick had a business trip in New Mexico, or so he said.  Mom had originally offered to take over the household management, but after a few weeks of flying solo myself, I let her know it is really a two person (at least) job.  She didn't put up much of a fight, but offered to come and back me up.

We started off the week with one child with a tummy ache, and one with pink eye.  The one with pink eye recovered only to give it to one more.  I don't think we had everyone at school until Friday.  I think the school expects an email from me every morning to let them know which children won't be there.  We had at least two house showings, two track meets, several trips to the grocery store, and a couple of doctor's appointments.  How I would have managed all of that without someone to man the kitchen I have no idea.  I'll probably find out this week.

We did pretty well, all things considered.  I had one very grumpy evening, and so did Mom.  They may have been the same evening, I'm not sure, they all have run together by now.  Next time we will have to find someone to bring that dose of encouragement that we needed after day three or so.  Or maybe the sun will drop in and provided the needed pick me up.  I know she slept well, which is a great reward for a hard days work.

Cherry blossoms

Samples at Costco

Fresh air coming through open windows

The sounds of neighborhood children playing outside

Reading on my deck in the sun

So many people around my table that we need to eat in shifts

Leftovers

The covey of quail that wander through my yard every morning looking for breakfast

Little girls playing playmobile on the front porch

My favorite yard on sixth street that is just starting its bloom fest.  It begins with purple crocuses, and then goes into azaleas and magnolia blossoms.  It is like a fireworks display that lasts for weeks.

WSU Moms weekend.  All of those momma's shopping with their children, and taking them out for nice meals.

Sunday morning exhortations, that short little reminder that I am not the center of the universe.  It always brings me up short and gets me ready for the rest of the worship service.

Martha coming in for a goodnight hug

Madie dragging her dad to the grocery store because she is craving granola.  He is willing to go with her.
