Today was a glorious, mundane, fall Saturday. Our last cross country meet for the high school was this morning. Brook ran well, and stayed right with her team mate. She finished third in her race. Running can be such a solo sport, I am glad she had a chance to run with someone. Madie finished strong as well. It was a beautiful day for running and being outside. Rick drove the kids, and took Helen with him. Karsten has one more meet this coming week.
I stayed home and cleaned up around the house. I made some pumpkin bread and dug out the winter clothes. You never know when the snow might start to fall. The kids had friends over, and there was a lot of activity around the house. I went downstairs at one point, and my basement had been transformed into a full fledged office. The girls were dressed in their best office attire, and there were office supplies, and stamps everywhere. It made me really happy. They were all playing together, and it was very creative. There was an aroma of pumpkin and cinnamon throughout the house. When Rick came home he added some color to the kitchen.
By the time dinner was finally ready, there were a few hitches with the painting happening in the midst of meal prep, we had added a few to our numbers. It was a lively meal. Our dining room accommodates our immediate family comfortably, but we always seem to have more than just us. I am sort of eyeing one wall that could be moved out several feet someday when we need to make room for husbands and wives. It seems that no matter how many square feet we have it, we manage to fill it up. It is a wonderful problem to have.
It was a full day all around, very productive, very satisfying. I am thankful for Saturdays like this one.
