Real Friends

We had a wonderful weekend, with Andrea and Lisa. Helen and I got to meet Andrea's family several months ago when we were in Seattle. So this weekend the whole family got to meet Biruk. It was a really great time. Nes and Biruk were so happy to see each other. They seemed much more relaxed, and just loved hanging out together. Soso, loved it too. He wanted to know if we could adopt Biruk, I suggested that maybe Andrea could adopt him. He actually looks quite a bit like her. It was really nice to have my virtual friend become my actual friend, and to have our families enjoy each other so much.

It was also Russ' birthday which was very fun. We did have to peel the extra wax off of the cake after he blew out his candles. Lisa has a wonderful home, and there was plenty for all of the kids to do, while we talked about our adventures in parenthood. We did take the whole bunch to the pool, which was pretty amazing. We got out with the same number we went in with, so all was well.

We have had a few bicycling incidents lately. Fortunately it has been damage to the bikes not the riders. We got all of that worked out today, thanks to Paradise Creek Cycles. The kids are all back on wheels, which is good. We had ordered a trampoline, which was "in stock, ships in 3-5 days." Apparently we were in line right after the last one left the warehouse, so ours will ship in 3-5 weeks, if we are lucky. My washing machine also has taken some sick leave. I am considering purchasing a wading pool and using it for laundry/child entertainment. Maybe they can play dress-up in the pool with some soap and get my laundry done while keeping themselves cool and occupied. I'll get pictures if it works. For now we are praying that the repair man really can make it out tomorrow.
