Thankful for today

This week has not gone according to my plan.  I am trying to spend more time being thankful in the moment, and this has been a great week for that.

I am thankful that our track team won their league championship.  This is the first year that they have been in the White Pine League.  The boys won without the help of their star distance runner.  My girls added points in almost every event they were in.  Madie had PR's in three events.  Her friend Autumn won every race she ran.  God blessed our team beyond measure, and it was wonderful to see the joy in the kids when they got home.  This track season has been a lot of fun.  The team has been a pleasure to spend time with and they have worked really hard to do their very best.

I have had kids home sick.  It has been a strange virus that makes you feel really run down, but not so awful that you just lay in bed moaning.  We have had time to watch movies together, and talk, and have a little one on one time while I am at home.  It is always hard to miss school, but it has been nice to be able to chill with one child at a time.

Our summer plans are starting to come together.  It looks like we will get some time with grand parents and family that we don't see that often during the school year.  I have found work for several of the kids which is very encouraging.  I may get some time with my younger kids that will allow me to focus on them which will be wonderful.

The weather has been amazing.  I had lunch with my husband downtown yesterday.  We ate outside right next to sixth street.  I told him it was just like being in a foreign country eating from a street vendor and having large trucks drive past blowing dust in your plate.  Who needs to fly to Africa for that?  We even had several folks walk by conversing in foreign languages, a nice bonus to living in a college town.

The kids have a fun week of Knight's Fest and SAT testing, so the homework load is light.  They have been wearing jeans to school and staying up too late, which is living on the wild side in our household. I have found my kitchen full of teenagers at odd times, but luckily I have had enough food to keep them happy.  Tonight they will baking cakes.  I'll try to get some pictures of that.  I may have another licensed driver by the end of the day, which is also a huge blessing.

For the moment the house is quiet, and for that I am profoundly thankful.
